How to activate or deactivate Customers

Inactive customers are those who will not be counted in billing. Once you will inactivate the customer, the following option can not be performed in the app as they are not part of active customers anymore.

  • Email can not send from the campaign
  • Will not be an active customer for automation email marketing
  • Will not be an active member of the loyalty program, so no point will be assigned for any activity
  •  No review or reminder email will be sent after placing the order

Note: Inactive customers are not charged by AiTrillion, however, if they make a purchase they become active customers again.

There are three ways through which you can mark customers as inactive in AiTrillion.

Shopify Marketing Automation Platform

  1. Using bulk CSV import.
  2. Using domain suppression settings.
  3. Manually mark a customer inactive.

Workflow

1. Using bulk CSV import to mark customers inactive

Step 1. In your customer CSV file add a new column named “Customer Status” along with email and other details. In this column, type "inactive" for every customer that you want to mark as inactive.

Step 2. Login to AiTrillion and go to Email Marketing > Contacts > Import CSV

Step 3. Go to Email Marketing > Contacts > Import CSV

Step 4. Click on the Upload CSV on the top-right corner of the screen.

To import a CSV you have to follow a few steps below-

A. Import contacts and enter the required details. After following the instructions click on the NEXT button to proceed.

Import-customers-3

B. After proceeding to step 2, map the columns available in the CSV file and click on the Next button to proceed.

Note: File columns can be customized for mapping using Custom Fields. For guidance Click Here.

While importing CSV, map the “Customer Status” column with the “Customer Status” field.

Once the process completes, you can check the inactive or active customer lists on the customer list page by applying the customer status filter.

2. Using domain suppression

You can easily mark customers inactive based on their domain in the email such as (@domain.com).
e.g. if you don’t want to send emails to all customers from (amazon.com) or (ebay.com). You can suppress (amazon.com) or (ebay.com) domains.

Step 1. Login to AiTrillion.

Step 2. Go to Email Marketing > Contacts > Domain Suppression

Step 3. Enter the domain you wish to suppress such as (amazon.com) or (ebay.com) and click on Save.

Enable the “Send mail to accept marketing” setting to send emails to only those customers who accept marketing. Keep it disabled to send emails to all customers excluding inactive customers.

3.  Manually mark a customer as inactive.

Step 1. Login to AiTrillion.

Step 2. Go to Email Marketing > Contacts > All Contacts

Step 3. Click on a Contact you wish to mark inactive.
